Almost a Room

Almost a Room

After taking the weekend off for family time, again, and having to actually work for a paying job for a few days, we were back on our heads with door work. Today was the last time an inner wall portion would ever be cut from a box. Today was the day the bathroom door wall would be removed, door frame built, and framework installed. Today marks a first for Boxes in Fields.

Removing this last bit of wall was very exciting for me. Even though the total removal of inner walls between the Shop Box, the Work Box, and the Dwelling Box measures something like 100+ feet, these last three feet were a monumental step. Right now, standing in the kitchen looking into the bathroom is just another 11 or feet of space. In just a few minutes it will be something more. It will be a room.

And how does a one enter or leave a room? That’s right, by the door. Unless your Santa and use the chimney. Using scrap pieces of tubing, the Planner created and welded the door framework together in less than 30mins. Amazing. Once together, it was hard to see the ugly cut lines any more. And since this entire framework will be hidden behind wooden door jambs, it doesn’t matter if the tubes were not solid pieces.

Installed, the framework allowed the dividing wall to become a room. A room with three walls, a window, and a doorway. It is almost a complete room. All it needs is a wall.
