Bedroom Painted
They, whoever they are, say each year Sherwin William paints for the year follow a theme. Not into art or art trends, I just buy paint based on how it makes me feel. Not on what the trend say I should buy or paint or purchase. No need to rant about trends, been there done that once this year already. Even so, it turns out the both white for the walls and the blue for the pantry are from the same color pallet. Winter. Both of my new favorite colors are winter in theme: Snowbound White and Blistery Sky Blue.

Winter it is not here at Boxes in Fields. There have been a few wet cold days but not winter. A start of another year is a few days away and BIF is awash in wildflowers. In December! Taking advantage of yet another warm, sunny day, the Planner is on the Dwelling roof doing rust repairs. Rust is a never ending job and he is debating making it a biyearly check instead of yearly. Yeah, more work.
Snowbound was used in the bathroom and pantry. It was also used in the bedroom as a flat instead of a gloss. With shine on the floor, shine on the door, and shine on the ceiling, I wanted to walls to be dull. Flat. Having painted the entire living room and nook with Snowbound White Flat six months ago, I can honestly say the flat is very much what I wanted but not what I need. We are too busy of a family for fussy paint. Flat shows every finger print, smudge from pants being rubbed across, shoe tip when kicked. Fussy it will have to be as I still love the flat.

Before the bedroom can be painted, the trim needed to be filled with epoxy and then sanded smooth. This took some serious effort as I was not very diligent about getting the epoxy smooth before it hardened. Epoxy was not my first choice for filling in the gaps at the trim corner but I need something that will help hold the wood together. The trim in the bathroom has all pulled apart at the edges and look terrible. Don’t really know why as all the boards were brought to room temperature. The only thing we can assess is the humidity is too low in the house now as compared to when the trim was installed. Live and learn. Functional furniture.

Wall paint was started at the bedroom cabinet wall and then worked around to the the door. Wait the cabinet. I never filled you in on the bedroom cabinets. Somewhere between June 25 and August 4th the cabinets were sanded and primed outside by the Planner. Needing the cabinets removed from the Work Box, the cabinets were brought inside and installed without being painted. Top and bottom cabinets installed with any issues, overhead door cabinet needed bracing. Plywood shims where made, installed, and the rest of the partial wall was covered with shiplap. These remaining shiplap sections had been precut when bedroom was completed way back in May and have been sitting in a corner trying not to get damaged. Final painting was done over several day with a paint brush using the same paint from the bathroom. Snowbound Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel paint from Sherwin Williams. Excellent stuff. Not one single picture was taken of me painting these cabinets. And this stage is where the cabinets have sat since sometime in August waiting for their doors to be installed. Sad, really sad.

As I was saying the wall painted was started at the edge by the cabinets and then worked around the room ending at the door. Two layers of paint and the walls and trim were fully painted and seal.

Cabinet drawer had their sliders installed. Cabinet doors had their hinges installed. Both done by the Planner as there is very little room for error and when I attempted to install a slider on the bathroom cabinet I drilled the hole sideways and the screw didn’t fit.

Instruction reading aside, sometime mistakes are still made. It’s the end of the year, I have no excuses. At least the mistake was inches too big! Now to paint the drawer faces and doors. Next year. This year has come and gone.
